Hardware vs. Software Think of school subjects (Math, Physics, Coding) as software. Think of cognitive functions (Memory, Attention, Processing Speed) as hardware. You cannot run the latest heavy software on an old computer with low RAM and a slow processor. It will crash. Similarly, you cannot teach advanced STEM concepts to a child with poor working memory or low concentration span. They will burn out.
